Belly Dance News

“To watch us dance is to hear our hearts speak.”
Hopi Indian Saying

Dear Charlotte

I have just returned from a holiday in Thailand and thought I would try and found out who benefited from the Jewels of the Nile tsunami donation. After some searching through documents I found the little girl who received your help. She was one year old at the time of the tsunami and was separated from her parents. After some time her mother and father were found and they were reunited.  Your donation helped to clothe her and provide accommodation for the family and the rest was held over for till the little girl started school.

Her name is Tanya – I was unable to write down her Thai name but she is quite happy to be called Tanya. She started school this year and your donation has helped to pay  the fees. She has just turned 5 and is a darling.

I was able to find a room next door the family and spend some time with them. . They took me to the beach to greet the new year. We were the only ones there and the waves gently lapped on the shore as 2009 was born. . We watched the fire works going off across the bay much to Tanya’s delight. In the morning she would come into my room and make me breakfast which she fed me with a spoon. After a few mouthfuls she would ask me if I was ‘Eim’ – Thai for full – and she would eat the rest.

I told her there were some ladies far away that would like to greet her. I told her that they loved dancing. So she performed a Thai dance for me to take a photograph to send to you.

I enclose picture of  Tanya dancing, Tanya with her mother and her Father and Mother .

I wish you a splendid new year filled with spiritual blessings.

Fred
